6th class Leavers Assembly 2026

22nd Jun 2026

We held our annual Leaver’s Assembly on Monday the 22nd of June at 1pm in the hall. A large group of parents and family members along with the whole school community came together to wish our 6th class of 2026 every success and happiness in the years ahead. It was an emotional day as we bid farewell to 11 families after many years of working together in the school.

Fr Tom began with a lovely prayer service which focused on all the special occasions and moments in the children’s school journey and he gave thanks to all the people who supported the children at home and in the school over the years. Fr Tom blessed them as they moved forward from our school onto the next stage of their life journey in secondary school.

The large crowd was treated to a variety of songs ,dances and musical performances. Our infant clssses accompanied by Moninne sang Dilin O’Deamhas brilliantly. First and second classes once again produced Broadway performances, as they entertained with When I grow up and Seasons of love. Third class “Rocked us “ and fourth class sang Paddy Panda at the request of our 6th class students. Fifth class took to the stage for two dance performances-the boys rocked the hall with Waka Waka while the girls entertained everyone with their Michael Jackson dance moves.
Our 6th class pupils showcases their talents. The girls sang I’ll always remember you and I’ve seen it accompanied by Mr O’Sullivan on the guitar 🎸. Rory showed his expert  skills on the piano 🎹 and Alanna played her harp beautifully for the final time. Laoise read her own poetry composition remembering her time in the school.

Mrs Connell presented Attendance Certificates and vouchers to a group of students whose attendance was exemplary all year. She congratulated the boys who had received their Cumann na MBunscol medals 🏅 earlier in the day and she also congratulated Ms Bambrick and her wellbeing committee on their Amber Flag award. The flag had been raised earlier and was now flying proudly outside the school. She wished all the pupils who qualified for the National Community Games competition the best of luck in Carlow.
Mrs Connell in her speech praised the 6th class pupils for their hard work and commitment to the school over the years. She recalled special occasions and events and the crowd enjoyed the staff portraits shown throughout her speech. She thanked all the staff who supported the children over the years and the parents who supported the school with all the activities and events over the past 8 years . She wished all the students the best of luck and success in the years and reminded them to be kind to others and to themselves.
Mr Kelly and Ms Gallagher presented the children with their graduation certificates before all 6th class remained on stage and sang The Scientist as their final performance in the school. It is always very emotional when the whole school sings the Leavers Song as the other classes say goodbye to our fantastic 6th class pupils.
Following the assembly 6th class and their parents and families stayed for refreshments and watched the videos and photographs which captured many highlights of their 8 years in Rathcormac NS.
We wish all the children every success in the future and hope they will be very happy in their new schools following their well deserved Summer Holiday break.
