Amber Flag Award
We are delighted to announce that Rathcormac N.S. have been awarded the Amber Flag in recognition of the efforts made across our school to promote positive mental health and wellbeing. This achievement reflects the dedication of our entire school community, and we would especially like to thank our Amber Flag Committee for their hard work and leadership in guiding this initiative.
As part of our Amber Flag journey, we continued to prioritise the promotion of wellbeing, kindness, and positive mental health throughout the school. We celebrated World Kindness Day with a range of activities across all classes, and the creation of a whole-school Kindness Tree. To recognise and encourage acts of kindness, certificates were awarded to pupils who demonstrated kindness and consideration towards others throughout the week.
We hosted a Well-Being Week featuring a variety of fun and active events, including Smoothie Day, Capture the Flag, mobility and stretching sessions, and dance and movement activities. Our monthly Feel Good Fridays remained a valued initiative, encouraging teamwork, cooperation, and positive relationships among pupils while promoting a supportive school environment.
We also held a Wear Yellow fundraiser in support of Pieta House. Pupils in 4th to 6th class participated in the Healthy Me Generation Programme, which encouraged greater awareness and understanding of physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. In addition, the Amber Flag Committee organised a Wellbeing Poster Competition based on the theme “Together We Grow, Together We Shine,” inspiring pupils to express their ideas about friendship, support, and belonging through creative artwork. Well done to all the pupils and staff on the efforts in achieving the Amber Flag.
