Amber Flag Committee
Our Amber Flag Committee has now been formed, and the children are thrilled to be part of our journey toward earning an Amber Flag next summer.
This year’s committee members are: Megan and Culann (4th Class), Holly, Harvey, Olivia and Oisín (5th Class), Grace, Jacob, Rian and Tina (6th Class).
During our meetings, we explored all of the wonderful wellbeing initiatives already happening in our school, including Feel Good Friday, the Friendship Squad, Buddy System, Movement Breaks, Morning Meetings, Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic/Hurling, Our Generation Programme, and celebrating World Kindness Day.
Each class has been given a Wellbeing Suggestion Box, and we were delighted to receive thoughtful feedback from our pupils. This helped us learn what our pupils value most during Feel Good Friday and what they would like to see more of.
We also spoke to classes about Feel Good Friday—and an amazing 60% of students said they would love to have it every week!
As one of our first goals, the committee decided to create an Amber Flag display board, featuring positive affirmations, the results of our parents’ survey, and feedback from our students.
Looking ahead, we will be holding a fundraiser in February in support of Pieta House. Keep your eyes peeled for more information!
