Christmas Assembly

22nd Dec 2023

Mrs Connell welcomed parents, grandparents and friends to the Christmas Assembly which took place on Thursday the 21st December at 11.15 in the hall.

The beautiful tree in the hall generously donated by Feeney’s Garden Centre was completely decorated with all the imaginative entries for the Recycled Decoration Competition sponsored by The Tidy Towns Community. The children received their prizes from members of the Student Council. In addition the Student Council presented the prize winners of the Art Competition which they organised with their selection boxes. The standard in both competitions was very high, well done to all who took part.

Paula Cooney accepted a cheque for €1740 on behalf of the North West Hospice. This was the money raised by the school on the 26th of October at the annual Hospice Coffee Day. Paula thanked all the children and their parents for their continuing support of the Hospice and she wished everyone a Happy Christmas.  Sinéad Kelley Chairperson of our Parents Association thanked all the staff for their work and support over the year. In particular she thanked Seán and Catríona and presented them with some gifts. Sinéad encouraged other parents to get involved with the Parents Association in the school. Thirty children were thrilled to receive a selection box courtesy of the raffle sponsored by the PA. Mrs. Connell thanked the Parents Association for all their help and support to the school over the years.
We were treated to a wonderful selection of songs .  We had "I’m a little snowman" and "Bualadh Bos" from our Junior Infants, "Up on the Rooftop " from our Senior Infants, First class sang In the Bleak Mid Winter accompanied by their teacher on guitar.

Second class took to the stage with their fantastic rendition of Merry Christmas Everyone complete with their own choreography! Mr Colsh’s class accompanied by Moninne and Leo once again delivered a great performance of Somewhere in My Memory.

Two of our 6th class girls Heather Anne and Clare shared their brilliant singing talents with us as we enjoyed  their performances of “River.” accompanied expertly by Leo. We had a magical performance from Mr Brennan’s class. Together with their super prop, they sang Donde  Esta Santa Claus 🎅 brilliantly. As the whole school sang Santa Claus is coming to town, Sleigh bells rang out. A special visitor appeared at the door to wish everyone in Rathcormac NS a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas 🎄.
