We had another wonderful day in the school on Thursday the 18th of December when a huge crowd of parents,grandparents and family members gathered for our annual Christmas assembly. The presentation of prizes to the winners in the Student Council Art competition took place along with the winners of the Recycling Christmas tree decorations. We also had 30 lucky children who won selection boxes in the Parents Association sponsored raffle.
The children from each class performed a Christmas party piece. Junior Infants sang I’m a little Snowman beautifully. Senior Infants entertained all with their hilarious poem Help Wanted. First class sparkled on the stage with their fantastic performance of Bualadh Bos. Second class choreographed their dance moves as they sang along with Merry Christmas everyone. Third class showed off their great memory skills as they sang 12 Days of Christmas perfectly. Fourth class wowed all present with two performances. They showed off their percussion skills under the expert direction of Mr Brennan and later sang their hearts out with a brilliant rendition of Donde Este Santa Claus. Fifth class showed off their professional dance moves as they brought the stage to life singing along with Run Run Rudolph and performing gymnastics tricks too.
The final performance of the morning was from sixth class as they sang There’s a party here tonight-one of their favourite songs from the musical they performed so brilliantly last week. We are so fortunate to have children with such outstanding talents across the school. We are very proud of the kindness the children show to each other and how the spirit of Christmas is always shown around the school. Mrs Connell praised the children and thanked all staff for their hard work all year long. She thanked the Parents’ Association for their fantastic support and ended by wishing all present a Happy and Peaceful Christmas 🎄.
A very special visitor arrived at the end of assembly. Santa 🧑🎄 was very impressed with all the children in Rathcormac NS and looks forward to visiting their homes on Christmas Eve . Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas everyone.
