Internet Safety Talk for 3rd and 4th Class
Jeremy gave a most interesting and informative talk to 3rd and 4th class today. He showed the children a variety of apps. He explained that these store a lot of information including your personal details, location, browsing history etc. This information can be sold to other companies. He advised that we should all read the terms and conditions before using these apps. We should always use private settings. Children should always be honest about their age. We should all think before we share online. These apps are designed to be addictive. Always set a timer to remind you to take a break. He reminded us that CHAT GPT is NOT human, will make up answers if necessary, can have inapproriate information and may cause nental health issues. He advised the children to NEVER use AI to hurt someone or 'deep fake' a person or post your modified images or use someone else's image. He warned the children that people who cyber bully will get into trouble at home, at school and with the law. They need to look out for each other, tell a trusted adult if this occurs and never reply/respond to the bully. One of his final points was 'think before your post and post what you are happy for the world to see'. Many thanks to Jeremy for all his tips and advice to keep us safe online.
