Internet Safety with 1st and 2nd class-Wednesday 15th of October 2025 .
We welcomed Jeremy to the school today to chat to us about Staying Safe on the Internet. Jeremy began by showing the children logos from a variety of apps such as Snapchat, Fortnite, Minecraft, Tiktok ,Among Us, Roblox and YouTube. He spoke about the importance of wearing a seatbelt in a car to keep safe and stated that you also needed to keep safe online.
He spoke about the importance of having an adult there when you are online. He gave some examples and warned the children about the dangers of Cyberbullying .He warned the children never to use bad words on the Internet. They will get into trouble if they do. He urged the children to tell a trusted adult (superhero)if anyone if mean to them. He asked the children to be friends to each other and to look out for each other.
If anyone is mean online the children must shout Stop, take a screenshot, block the sender and tell their superhero. Stop ,Shot ,Block, Tell.
The children will create posters to represent these rules to put up around the school.
Jeremy also spoke about the dangerous people that may be online . There are bad people on the Internet who want to be friends with children. The clear message was Never become friends with people on the Internet that you don't know.
Another message was Never download an app without your Superhero allowing it.The children practiced saying Lock, block, box and run.
You wouldn't leave your front door open all night so Jeremy reminded the children to keep any accounts set to Private. The children were asked to do some homework for tonight. Ask their superhero (parents) to make their accounts private.
He concluded the talk with some rules for posting on the Internet-the Granny Rule and the T Shirt Rule. We hope that the children will put all these rules into practice and we thank our Parents Association for funding the 3 workshops in the school today.
