School Carol Services Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th December

19th Dec 2023
The hall was filled with beautiful Carol singing as the whole school came together to celebrate the Christmas Story. We welcomed all our parents, grandparents, and family members to these two special events in our school calendar.
The music group under the expert direction of Moninne began with Oh Come All Ye Faithful. Our drummer boy Cillian led in our lovely procession of angels, shepherds, and Mary and Joseph and they set the scene perfectly for our service. The large crowd was treated to old favourites such as Joy to the World, In the Bleak Midwinter, and The First Noelle. We loved our infant performances of Jog along Little Donkey, Sweet Baby Jesus, and Away in a Manger. More modern carols added to the great variety as we enjoyed Calypso Carol, Somewhere in My Memory and Because It's Christmas. It was great to have Mr O'Sullivan back with his magical guitar as he played for fifth class with their wonderful rendition of Oh Holy Night. The Christmas Story was narrated beautifully by our group of sixth-class girls. The whole school joined in the final carol Mary's Boy Child which has been a firm favourite here in Rathcormac NS over the years. Mrs Connell thanked the teachers, staff, and children for all their hard work preparing for the Carol Service. She thanked all the musicians and the TY students Leo and Odhrán for their wonderful musical contribution to the service. Mrs Connell concluded by thanking everyone present for taking the time to come to the school and she wished everyone a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas.
