STEM- Paper chain challenge.

8th Jun 2023

2nd to 6th classes took part in a STEM challenge today. STEM projects aim to cultivate and develop interest in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Today the task was 'simple'- make the longest paper chain possible using an A4 sheet of recycled newspaper, scissors and tape/glue. The recycled newspaper sheet ensures that we cut down on paper waste in the school. The Green Schools committee will approve!!!

2nd-3rd classes had 15 minutes for the task while 4th-6th classes had ten minutes to make their chains. Pupils worked in pairs or individually.

4th class pupils measured and recorded the results of each chain made and the results were very interesting. We even saw chains measuring over 3 metres in length.

Well done everybody-next week's STEM challenge is paper aeroplane flying!!!
