The Regional Winners of the Abbvie STEM prize went on a trip to the Museum of Country Life,now known as Turlough Park on Friday last.
This museum is part of the National Museums of Ireland.
We had an early start and a quiet bus on the way down to Castlebar.
First off was a workshop on Rockets. We learned about the design of rockets and we were set a challenge to build our own and to see how long could they remain airborne. . The children took their designs out onto the lawn and in glorious sunshine tested their rockets.
Off we went to the playground then to live our best lives! We popped in to a huge greenhouse and had a look at the gorgeous plants grown there.
We broke for lunch then,followed by some yummy ice cream.
Next up was a guided tour of the house and museum where we learned about life in the past,artefacts and the history of the house.
A massive well done to this group of talented children who won the prize.
As usual,our pupils in Rathcormac NS were a credit to themselves throughout the day.
