On Wednesday, the 27th of May, 26 children from 3rd to 6th classes participated in the County Sligo Primary School Swim Gala. It was an early start to the day, as the bus departed the school at 9 am for the Sligo Sports Complex. Over 235 children took part in the event, with the opportunity to compete in 25 m freestyle, 25 m backstroke, or 25 m breaststroke.
The standard was exceptionally high, and we were extremely proud of the performances of all our swimmers. Congratulations to our 3 individual medal winners, Rían, Emma and Kate.
Once again, our pupils modelled excellent behaviour and were a credit to our school. It was lovely to see the friendships between the classes as they cheered on their schoolmates during each race. Well done everyone.
Thank you to Michelle and Mr Kelly, who accompanied the children on the day and to Sligo Swim Club for a well-run event. We look forward to taking part in this event again next year.
